NATIONAL ADVISORY GROUP
Background
The concept of a National Advisory Group (NAG) on Independent Living came about towards the end of 2003. The ultimate aim of NAG is to ensure the support and resource needs of people with disabilities are met, through a process of equal and mutual participation with other relevant groups and agencies so that real change happens.
Strategic Goals of NAG
- Promote the philosophy of Independent Living by learning, practicing and sharing
- Support CILs to achieve aims at local level
- Effect change in policies and actions of all stakeholders
- Strengthen, support and promote solidarity
- Develop and support the National Advisory Group
Who is involved?
NAG is comprised of:
- 7 representatives from the statutory sector
- 3 from the disability sector
- 5 representatives of CILs, 3 of whom are Leaders
Current Projects:
There are currently nine projects being funded and supported by NAG. A shared learning conference is due to be held in Dublin in February 2012.
