Overview
Donegal Centre for Independent Living (DCIL) is an organisation of, and for, people with physical and sensory disabilities that are striving to achieve Independent Living through the provision of services such as Personal Assistant services. DCIL also strive to promote positive images and perceptions of people with disabilities within our county
Operational Area:
DCIL are currently providing services throughout the county of Donegal, which is a very large area, however, we are planning on providing services in the Inishowen area in Donegal from a more localised DCIL office in the near future.
Current Activities:
Projects currently operated by DCIL include:
Involvement with other groups:
Apart from DCIL's involvement with other CILs nationally, we are also involved with the Disability Federation of Ireland. We have not yet become full members due to a regional CIL debate on paying individual membership, but we hope this will be finalised shortly.
DCIL work very closely with the NWHB in relation to the provision of a PA service. We also form part of the Home Support Referral Panel that consists of representatives from various home support agencies and key Health Board staff. We maintain a general working relationship with NCBI, NDA, IWA, MS Ireland, and a very close relationship with the Donegal Cheshire Apartments.

DCIL have produced a very successful 2005 calendar, in conjunction with Finn Harps FC. The theme is about striving to achieve independent and equal rights within society, and it is on sale for a very reasonable €7.00 (€5+€2 p&p). To purchase one please contact the DCIL office directly.
