Training as Vehicle to Employment Project - 2006/2007
Project Priorities
Promote training positions
at your countries state agencies and open them to persons with disabilities
In order to influence state agencies to create training positions,
project participants intend to start competition between agencies and
among countries by ranking agencies and countries. To do this in Ireland
work has begun on compiling a list of government agencies who have the
following five key components:
1. Formal training programs for qualified persons
2. Formal training programs which explicitly welcome applicants with disabilities
to apply
3. Written diversity policies that explicitly include persons with disabilities
as clients and staff
4. Written action plans for making their premises and activities open
to persons with disabilities
5. Specific budgets for financing their action plans
List the training positions
that disabled persons can apply for
In promoting training positions at state agencies it is predicted that
we will come across agencies that
1. Are on the way towards a mainstream disability policy, action plan
and its implementation
2. Have created training programs geared exclusively to disabled people
3. Are willing to discuss disabled applicants' access needs on an individual
basis without promising that persons with all disabilities
can be accommodated in their training programs
