Europe and International (E&I ) Working Group
Since its foundation CIL, Carmichael House has engaged in International Disability & Independent Living movements. We greatly value our International links – both to learn from models of best practice and also to benefit from peer support. Always active members of the European Network on Independent Living (ENIL), through the years we have forged great links between Ireland and the countries of Eastern Europe in particular.
When this working group was set up, their role was laid out as feeding information from best international practice into an Irish context and so into the role and work of CIL. Historically, this work was carried out through a variety of exchange programmes and activities in developing countries. The E&I group continues its involvement with ENIL and concentrates on activities to develop awareness of the EU and International issues at home.
